Paula Alford
Paula Alford has explored her love for the arts for the past 20 years. From graduating from an arts high school for creative writing, Rosa Parks School of Fine and Performing Arts in Paterson, NJ to the completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree from William Paterson University, she has always indulged in being creative and innovative. She developed her first company, PP Productions, in 2002 and worked as an intern for Hidden Beach Records, producing live music events to promote artists like Jill Scott. She could not resist her love for music and went on to produce 8 music mix tapes, landing two songs on Hot 97, Kay Slay and DJ Envy mix tapes. Although songwriting and singing was at the center of her passion and dreams, she could not deny her knack for marketing and business, so in 2008, she created Candy Flavas LLP. Candy Flavas is a lifestyle brand company, which produces organic products in a fun and energetic manner. The product line consists of soy candles in yummy scents, vegan sugar body scrubs, lickable candy lip balms and glimmer lotions.
Candy Flavas has been very successful in earning a strong consumer base and celebrity clientele. In 2010, the company was selected to have its products be a part of The Monique Show with celebrities like Meghan Good, Ann Nesby, FeFe Dobson and Dwele. That same year, Marvett Britto (celebrity publicist) selected the company to have its products at her New York Needs You event in New York City. In 2011, Candy Flavas products appeared in events for high profile companies/ organizations like Indique Hair, Limitless, Hearts of Gold and more. In that same year, singer, Michelle Williams endorsed the brand by proudly wearing the Candy Flavas tees and tweeting about her love of the products. In 2012, the company reaped more success, having their products be a part of BET Honors 2012, Angela Simmons Indique Hair launch, BET Awards 2012 events, Comedian/ actor Tony Rock private party and Duffy’s Hope Celebrity Baseball game. Future events include a partnership with Durango Boots for a NYC event and a private event for actress, Michelle Pfeiffer.
Paula understands the importance of creating a quality product that consumers can embrace. The mission of Candy Flavas is to produce products that change customer’s experiences and become a part of their lives and memories. With this mission in mind, Paula sought out to make Candy Flavas a brand that customers associated with quality. Paula believes that everyone deserves luxury and elegance in their products and ensures that Candy Flavas products deliver this.
Paula is currently enrolled at Post University for her MBA, strengthening her CEO and managerial skills so that Candy Flavas can have longevity in the retail industry. She also consults with start up business on developing marketing and strategic plans for their businesses. A true leader is constantly sacrificing and making opportunities, as opposed to waiting for them to happen. Leaders understand the vital role of creativity in building strong companies and teams. Leaders demonstrate courage and encourage those around them to become involved in pursuing their passions. Paula Alford is a leader and uses life as a journey in discovering the impossible and making it possible.
