How to match, blend, and apply your foundation!
So often we see women with what appears to be flawless skin and or even flawless makeup and you might wonder how they got it so perfect. One of the major components for completing your entire makeup look is the base of it all.... which would be your foundation (hence the name). It is literally the foundation of your entire look.
Step 1: Matching your foundation to your skin
Finding the perfect shade can be difficult. The easiest way to match your complexion is to have someone else do it for you! You can go to a Mac counter or Sephora and have them try different shades on you to see what works best. I highly recommend Sephora because they can offer different brands with different levels of coverage. This service is free btw!
If you are looking to purchase a drug store brand there are a few things you need to keep in mind as you are shopping. Most drug store brands have a wide variety of shades so you will likely find one that matches you fairly easily. Because you won't have to pay an arm and a leg for the makeup, you can afford to try a few different shades, or even combine shades to make a customized look. Be sure to keep your receipt because you will be able to return the shades you don't use!
Either route you decide to go with keep in mind your skin type. If you have oily skin you may want to go with a powder foundation, mattifying the skin and absorbing any excess oil.
Step 2: How to apply and blend your foundation
Having the right tools will help you easily apply your foundation. You can purchase great foundation brushes at any price. Another tool that creates that airbrushed look is a beauty blender. You can spray whichever tool you choose with setting spray to help with the application process. This will help with spreading your foundation evenly on your face and it will keep your foundation on your face longer!
