Nicholas K - Fashion Week

Since its beginning in 1943, New York Fashion Week is known as the event where top designers, and some emerging talents showcase their latest creations, setting the fashion tone of the season.  Nicholas K, a sibling team and favorite of Fashion Week, put Native American inspired ensembles down the runway. What’s unique about this duo is their background. The two grew up next to an Apache Reserve, a sure influence in their designs. There was a focus on draping and proportion, which were perfect elements in the women's cropped leather jacket, called “Earth”.  The men's looks were similarly draped, but with a bit more of a utilitarian take. The collection's defining look was a long white dress with bias-cut layers that rendered it one step above a beautiful nightgown. The hair was especially significant, as its simplicity served as the perfect complement to the clothing. Middle parts, with soft wavy and straight hair, and added random braids added to the collection’s play with texture. Model’s heads were adorned with turban-styled wraps, and bold feathers.
