New Music: "Summer Fling"

The girl who brought us the"Whip My Hair" anthem is back with a new summer single, "Summer Fling", which is all about hanging out with friends and falling in love, if only for a couple of months. Willow's personality definitely shines through as she puts on her best British accent to talk to a boy and ask for his number. We are inspired by young Willow's ambition, passion, and drive to create beautiful music. Never the one to be dull, Willow is always playing with her hair looks to create a stand-out style that is all her own. We love Willow, and we love "Summer Fling".

Janelle Monae Let's Loose With Her Hair

Janelle Monae recently released her new video, "Dance Apocalyptic", and we are in love with her new look! In the video, Janelle ditches the tuxedo for a care-free, all white ensemble, and says goodbye to her bouffant, as she dons a crimped down hair style. We have always loved Janelle for her individuality, but this evolution in her style just takes her up a notch. You can expect her to do her usual "Monae Moves". Watch " Dance Apocalyptic" now.

"Who's Bad"

It's hard to believe that it's been four years that the King of Pop has passed.  In 1987, MJ premiered one of his many short film/ music videos, "Bad".  In the video, Jackson and a group of background dancers are shown doing dance routines throughout a subway station. Believe it or not the "Bad" video was shot at the Hoyt–Schermerhorn Brooklyn subway station, just steps away from Indique Brooklyn!

Throwback Thursday: A Rose is Still A Rose

Thursdays have officially become the day to post your favorite images from the past, under the hash-tag 'Throwback Back Thursday'. We decided to get in on the action and share our own #TBT moment! In 1998, Aretha Franklin released her most critically acclaimed and best selling album, A Rose is Still A Rose. The song peaked at #30 on the Billboard charts, as it proclaimed the empowering message of self-worth and esteem in the face of adversity and less desirable circumstances. The video for her featured single is a story of one woman's journey from innocence to 'real life', and reassures the viewer that one's definition of them self is found within themselves rather than the world's view of them. The main character played by Elise Neal, is seen wearing red throughout the journey, symbolizing her "Rose" status never leaves, even as her state of mind, situations, personal perspective, and emotions fluctuate. This single delivers such a sense of strength and warmth, as it reminds each woman that while we are not perfect, we are forever beautiful. Have a feel good #TBT, as you take a listen to A Rose is Still a Rose.

Meet Atlantic Record's Seveyn Streeter

The talented Amber 'Seveyn' Streeter has been taking over the radio waves with her hot single "I Like It." She has also written songs for a few of our Indique faves like Kelly Rowland, Brandy and others such as Chris Brown. Seveyn even gave a stellar performance at BET's Rip The Runway this year! If you love her hair as much as we do, then try the BOUNCE Deep Wave or SEA Tahitian Curl to create Seveyn's textured ombre look.
