Kimberly Snyder's Jungle-Inspired Smoothie Recipe

Kimberly Snyder, author of the New York Times Best Seller, “The Beauty Detox Foods and The Beauty Detox Solution,” believes that you should “eat your beauty.” She recently just got back from her honeymoon where she learned some new recipes and nutrition secrets from the jungle that she shared on The Queen Latifah Show.
Here is one of her popular recipes known as the Gorilla Shake. The name and recipe was inspired by Snyder’s gorilla trek in the volcanic mountains of northern Rwanda, where she had the opportunity to be close up with the gorillas on foot.

Here are the ingredients:
¼ cup sunflower sprouts
1 cup baby bok choy (use green leaf part)
1 ½ cup papaya, chopped (ripe)
½ cup coconut water
1 cup banana, chopped

How To: Sun-Kissed Glow

Glowing skin is what summer is all about, but you don't have to risk sun damage to achieve a bronzed complexion. Here are 5 tips for bronzing success:

1. Bronzer should be lightly applied all over your face .
2. Pick the right color. You should not choose from a line that only has one bronzer. The correct product should be two to three shades darker than your facial skin. Use a sponge or applicator to apply the bronzer to the top of your arm. The inside of your arm is too pale to tell if it is the right color. If it blends into your arm, you've got a winner! 
3. Powder for most skin types will give it a matte velvety look. All bronzers should be matte, not shimmer. An all-over shimmer will flatten your face, not highlight the key features.
4. Applicator is key! For powder bronzer, dip a large brush into the loose powder and tap off the excess. For liquid or gel bronzers, dispense a small amount of the product to the tip of your fingers and then pat your fingers and palms together until the product is dispersed evenly. Take your time when applying bronzer and you will end with a beautifully bronzed look.
5. To achieve the total sun-kissed look, add a bit of blush. Apply a brighter pink or coral color to the apples of your cheeks. Use cream for dry skin types. This is the completing step makeup artists use to obtain a perfect glam glow.
    

Heatless Blending Methods

We know that one of the biggest challenges for some of our Curlfriends is blending curly extensions with hair to create a natural-looking style without using heat styling tools. Here are a few ways to achieve that flawless finish on your curly install! 

For more heavily textured hair, you may want to try a braid out or a twist out  or a bantu knot out that incorporates both your natural hair and the extensions. The most important part about blending your leave out with your extensions is making sure that both of the curl patterns are identical.  You can also use flexi-rods for a looser curly style!
