Nape Cuts Make a Comeback!

Hair trends always have a tendency to re-invent themselves.  This year women are trading in shaved sides for a shaved undercut at the nape area.  The cut is very edgy and allows you the flexibility to show your creative style at your leisure.  Would you ladies be daring enough to give this a go? If not, one of our Indique staffers has vowed to take the plunge and show you… Stay tuned!

Beat the Heat Hair Styles: The Fishtail Braid

During the hot summer months - especially this 97 degree New York heat - it’s often just plain unbearable to wear long flowy hair. If you want to show off your hair length without breaking out in sweats, try a braid, a ponytail, or a combo of the two with a braided ponytail. Blake Lively’s fishtail braid ponytail is a chic way to beat the heat and still wear long lengths. High, low, or off to the side, there are plenty of ways to put your own touch to this style.

466/64 Fashion for a Great Cause

As we celebrate Nelson Mandela’s birthday today, we also reflect on his continuing fight for equality and being of great service to one another. In honor of Mandela’s dedication to service, the fashion line 466/64 was created. 466/64 was named after Nelson Mandela’s prison number and is Africa’s first aspirational global apparel brand. Their quality wardrobe building items not only reflect the diversity and energy of Africa but also serve as a merge between cultures all over. Something that Nelson Mandela definitely personifies. Money earned from the fashion line goes to the 4664 Global Campaign. To learn more click here.

Sunglasses Trend- Retro

Protect your eyes wearing the latest trend in sunglasses. There are quite a few trends we are seeing this summer including retro style sunglasses. The retro look has truly ruled the runway this season, and sunglasses are no exception. Rock the retro look by wearing sunglasses inspired by the 40’s 60’s and 80’s. Along with retro styles the look of round circle glasses, as well as over sized shades will be making huge statements as well.

Genie in a Bottle: Sheaterra Organics Black Soap Face Wash

Getting flawless skin during the summer can be a bit tricky.  With the help of Sheaterra’s Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Face Wash and Mask we have a sure winner for effortless clean skin.  The 100% natural face wash has been a rave amongst beauty lovers who have coined it “microdermibrasion in a bottle”. The wash works like microdermabrasion to eliminate dead skin, fight acne and even your skin tone. At $18 a bottle we’d call that a bang for your buck!

Make your Pout POP!

This morning, our chat consisted of us finding great ways to make your lips pop! Here are some helpful tricks:

1. You must exfoliate your lips once a week to remove dead skin. Apply a balm at night to keep your lips soft & luscious.

2. Lip liner accentuates your lip shape and helps your gloss/lipstick stay on longer.

3. For really defined lips, after applying your lip liner & lipstick, do not kiss your lips together! This will cause your lipstick to look smudged.

4. Line your lips. Fill them in with a matte lipstick. Then go over the lips with a clear gloss, or a gloss that is the same shade as your lipstick. Dabbing is key!

Healthy Hair with Indique Expert Liz Owusu!

During today’s makeover with Tracy Garraud of Vibe Vixen, Indique Expert Liz Owusu had great tips for women who are transitioning from relaxed to natural hair:

1-One of the best ways to transition your hair is with hair extensions because it is a great protective style. Leave as little of your own hair out as possible. Also, pick a texture close to yours so you can re-learn how to work with your natural hair.

2-Trim your hair! Now that you are dealing with two textures at the same time, regular trims keeps your hair healthy and gets rid of the need of “THE BIG CHOP”.

3-Cleanse and moisturize regularly while wearing extensions. Keep your hair and scalp healthy!

4-Everyone has different hair needs. Consult with a professional stylist to find the perfect hair care regimen for you.
