INDIQUE New York: Winter Wish List

The only thing better than perfect hair? The perfect hat.

This winter, I want a delicious topper. The type of hat that is an instant conversation starter, and will go with anything to give it that extra oomph.

This Gucci fedora is definitely lust-worthy, but there are plenty of affordable options on the scene that will make the girls gag all season long.

Just don’t forget your travel-size brush to get rid of hat hair…

Indique Queens: Winter Wish List!

Recently celebrities like Beyonce and June Ambrose have been seen skating around the city in their lace-up beauties. Designers like Alain Quilici and Dsquared carry these Skate Lace-Up Booties. Beyonce’s unique-looking shoes have a 5-inch heel and retail for $1,180. This bootie is unique because the heel and toe are bridged by a one-inch platform creating the look of  ice skates. These cutesy heels are top on my Winter wishlist!

Winter Essentials: The Cape!

Mondays are tough. You had two blissful days of relaxation, and now you have to abruptly enter the proverbial rat race once again.

AND you have to look pulled together and effortlessly chic? PLEASE.

I may have a remedy for the Monday blues. This winter, get yourself an uber-essential cape, like this J. Crew one. Add 1 pair of leather gloves, oversized shades, and a killer bag, and voila! A woman who is unaffected by Monday morning!

Thank me next week…

What is the ONE beauty item you cannot live without?!

Krista:

I believe I look better with a glow, so that’s why I can’t live without my NARS-Laguna Bronzer/Orgasm Blush Combo.  NARS’ bronzer looks great on any skin color and creates an illusion of a flawless tan without the work of a tanning bed.

Kristen:

Hands down my Makeup Forever HD Foundation, its’ honestly heaven it a bottle. I’m usually a die-hard MAC fan but I happen to be in Sephora and picked up this one since I had run out of my MAC one. It makes my face look completely airbrushed and it goes on superlight. You can say I’m slightly obsessed!

Christina:

I could not live without my mascara.  People are always commenting on my eyes and lashes so those are the features I like to play up the most. One swipe really makes a difference in my overall look. I use two that are very affordable and in my opinion ‘drugstore gems’. I like Rimmel’s Glam Eyes for everyday wear. It lengthens and separates nicely and gives you a “doe-eyed” effect. At night I’ll usually layer the Rimmel with a few quick swipes of the classic Maybelline Great Lash for some added drama. I find it adds some nice volume and the small brush makes it easier to reach spots that a bigger brush might miss.

GLAM Survivor Day!

Oprah celebrates a night with Ralph Lauren

Oprah hosted an evening with Ralph Lauren at the Lincoln Center this past Monday. During their conversation, Oprah asked Lauren, “You are one of the top fashion brands in the world. How do you reinvent it?” Ralph Lauren jokingly replied, “You Copy.”

One of the things that I have learned about fashion is that trends are always recycled. Designers modify and add their sense of touch to make their creations unique. Ralph Lauren has set himself apart in the fashion industry by keeping his designs classic and by living up to his brand; everyone knows the iconic polo symbol.

Camilla Belle, Wendi Murdoch, Jessica Alba, Kerry Washington, Lauren Bush, Naomi Watts, & Prabal Gurung, were some of the celebrities spotted at this amazing celebration.

Who are your style icons Boston?

Krista:

“Lauren Conrad because I love how she takes simple pieces of clothing and turns them into effortless perfection! I love the simple, chic look with a twist!”

“Also, Kourtney Kardashian because I love how she tests the limits on trends with colors and prints.  I love how she can rock any outfit even if she is petite just like me!”

Kristen:

“Kim Kardashian and Nicole Sherzinger because they stay ahead of the trends and are always looking camera ready even in casual clothing.”

Christina:

“Rachel Bilson and Kate Moss. I love them both for their versatility and their cool casual style sense. They’re both masters of street style, dressed down but always looking classic and pulled together.”

Indique Boutique Queens: Dakia & Joyce!

I was stoked to to see my girl Joyce stop by the Little Neck Queens store today. I haven’t seen her since we worked the Indique Booth at Bronner Brother’s Baltimore trade show, so it was a pleasant surprise. Joyce’s hair looked amazing! She was rocking the BOUNCE Coil Curl that she added heavy highlights to in 22” and I’m wearing my 30” in PURE Straight and I’m in love!!!! We caught up and talked about hair hair, and more hair.   (Love her that’s my soul sister!)

Steve Jobs: Allowing us All to THINK DIFFERENT

I remember my first “notebook” being a blueberry mac. It was blue & white and when I pressed the on button for the first time, a smily face computer welcomed me. There weren’t many “apps” or too many cool functions, but the design to me, was revolutionary. I became an avid Apple supporter and was always the first in line for their new products.

When the Iphone was first launched, I remember watching Steve Jobs and saying, “how can a phone get any better?”. I thought the same with the first edition Ipad. Steve Jobs entire concept for his products was to “Think Different”. He encouraged forward thinking and was never afraid to fail. Thank you Steve Jobs for creating products that are designed from the inside to out. Thank you for creating a team of designers that are fashion forward. And lastly thank you Steve Jobs for making computer techies the cool kids on the block!
