Cassie featured on "Saint Heron"

Bad Boy singer Cassie makes a beautiful appearance on the New “Saint Heron” compilation album in a track entitled “INDO," written and produced by Solange Knowles.  Cassie sounds like a complete angel, hitting smooth high notes over the soulful beat! According to the Saint Heron website, "The intent of the album, and the label at large, is to feature, highlight and align a new movement of contemporary, genre-defying R&B visionaries, which will serve as a segue into the diverse evolution of these independent artists as they share their voices and words as only they can – through pure, unadulterated music."

We're Listening to...

The funk soul-stress has a new video for the "Lovers in the Parking Lot" track from her True EP. The mellow video shows Solange in glow in the dark ensembles and her curly mane, all while mixing monochromatic trends with metallic flare! If your looking to have full curls that bounce like Solange's in this video, the BOUNCE Coil Curl in 18" will do the job!

Solange Graces the Cover of Complex

Solange flaunts her hot bod and hot hair on the newest issue of Complex Mag. BIG Curly hair is a summer essential for this upcoming season. Textured hair is perfect for the summer because it allows little to no heat manipulation to your natural hair. No need to bring out the flat iron this season. No more slaving over the mirror straightening out your natural hair so it blends with the straight or wavy extensions. A spray bottle filled with water for daily maintenance for the extensions and a small wave wand for height and volume are all you need. Try any of Indique's curly textures like PURE Curly, BOUNCE Deep Wave, BOUNCE Coil Curl, or BOUNCE Organic Curl to achieve this look.

New You, Spring Hues

Spring is here and there is no better way to welcome the season in with new hair and a great wardrobe.  This season go for tropical greens, bold fuchsia, flirty pinks and sweet apricot tones.  Try color blocking to amp up your style!

FALL MUST HAVE: Cap toe shoes

Fall is officially here! It’s that time to decide what trends will we fall in love with or just leave it on the runway. A huge trend this season are cap toe shoes.

This trend adds a little attitude to any simple outfit. We took note of the cap toe pump as an essential footwear choice for spring and now the trendy metal detail is carrying over to the colder seasons.

While the two-tone look reminds us of a pair of classic Chanel flats, designers have taken this signature style and transformed it in their own way.

Natural Beauties: Carols Daughter's Innovative Transitioning Kit

It can be a hard task making the hair transition from relaxed to natural.  Luckily Carol’s Daughter heard the hardships of those embarking on the natural hair journey and created the Transitioning Kit.  The kit is specified for the three transitional types including “Big Chopper”, “Protective Styler” and “Long Grow Out”

The three step kit is designed to offer solutions to the 3 problems transitioners face: product build-up, scarred scalp & breakage at the points of demarcation.  For more information visit here. For those who are already natural the kit works just as well at conditioning your hair and maintaining a healthy scalp.  Happy growing ladies!

Summer Style Picks: The Romper

Summer is the season to show a little leg and wear your favorite skirts, dresses, and shorts. It’s also the best season for a romper which has the slip on convienience of a dress and the functionality of shorts. Most importantly this one piece ensemble is complimentary on every shape and can be accessorized up or down for any occasion. See some of your favorite celebs wearing rompers below.

During spring/summer months everyone is excited to wear bold bright colors, especially pinks, oranges, and greens. But yellow, the brightest color of them all, tends to intimidate people who are afraid of their outfit being too loud. On the contrary, yellow is a great warm weather color that anyone can wear in their own way. From bags, to nails, from shoes, to pants, there are plenty of ways to try this fun shade. Solange Knowles: Next Model!

Solange Knowles has turned into a vibrant DJ in Brooklyn that has now captured the eyes of modeling agencies. Ms. Knowles was signed to Next Model Agency and has been featured in Vogue Italia and the latest issue of Instyle magazine. I love her tribal inspired ensembles as well as her natural hair!

Hair Trends: The Best of 2011

This year was filled with great hair inspirations from sloppy buns to gigantic afros. Rihanna started the year off loudly with flaming red hair and Cassie did the side cut that had celebrities like Willow Smith, Laurieann Gibson and La La putting clippers to their edges. The Fishtail braid was so fun and flirty and almost anyone could pull it off.  And how could I forget about the lovely Ombre that added the perfect amount of color to dark tresses. This year was full of so much variety that I am really looking forward to see what is to come in 2012. Bring on some more GOOD  hairstyles!
