5 Ways to Add Flair to Your Hair

Sometimes a new look is just what we need to spruce up our look. Check out these simple 5 ways to take your hair from drab to fab:

1) Add Color: Whether it be an ever so daring ombre or subtle pop of color with highlights, changing your hair color can give your hair an instant make over.  Try asking your stylist to install a color from our Hysteria or Keratique collection.

2) Revamp Your Cut: Try applying fringe layers to your style. Angling your layers over one eye or opting for long lash sweeping bangs gives you instant sexy hair.

3) Change up Your Length: Instead of going for your normal 16” tube of Pure Wavy take a plunge and try the 20.” Elongating your hair length will give you a new look without any commitment to color or change in texture. On the opposite end if you always go for longer hair try a mid length or short bob to quickly change up your normal look.

 4) Layer Your Mane: Layers create movements and nothing draws attention to your hair like body; create your own wind ladies!

5) Straighten it Out: Straight hair that looks healthy and well maintained always turns head. Try using our Zen Straight texture a dime size amount of our Argan Oil Moisturizer and a durable flat iron. If you always opt for big body waves or curls, going straight will help to draw attention to your facial features and will also complement that great new eye shadow or lipstick you’ve been dying to break out.

Then and Now is more than an Instagram trend, try adding some flair to your Indique hair and tweet us a photo!

Get the Tracee Ellis Ross Look!

Hi ladies, so we have been receiving tons of questions on how to achieve the “Tracee Ellis Ross” look. She is known for the two looks below:

This look can be achieved with Indique Hair’s PURE Curly. If you blow dry your hair and apply sponge rollers at night, the next morning you will have this effortless look. You can also have your stylist do a “wash & set” to get the same look.

This iconic look can be achieved with the BOUNCE collection Coil Curl. Simply allow your hair to air dry and finger tease the curls into the shape that you want. You can also use an Amika Clip Free Curler and get the first look by taking sections of your hair and twirling it. The BOUNCE Coil Curl will give you both of Tracee’s looks!

Born to Dance Style Tip: Episode 8

Laurieann Gibson’s hair on Born to Dance is as important as the choreography! Celebrity stylist Karim Odoms will be sharing his style tips on how to create beautiful, flowing hair every week.

We are going out with a bang! We decided to add more length to Laurieann’s luscious locks! We added Indique’s 30” inch PURE Wavy extensions at the bottom of the hair.

For “The Monsters Ball” we went for a wild rock and roll look using almost every iron in my kit from curling iron , flat iron , to crimping iron just for a messy, “piece-y” look .

For the finale elimination, we used a large 2” iron sectioning off hair down the middle . Starting from bottom to top wrap the hair around the iron away from the face leaving out the ends of hair to create a bigger,  bouncier waves. Complete other section again wrapping hair around iron away from the face. Fluff those bangs, smoothing into wave pattern. Lay those edges with a control paste and always smooth fly seats around the part so that Indique looks as if its growing out of your scalp!

Until next time ladies, keep it beautiful, sexy , bouncy , moving with Indique Hair & styling tips from O’Karim!

For Laurieann’s retro glam hair, use a 1-inch barrell curling iron wrap hair around the iron twisting in alternating directions. When done, pin curl hair leaving out the ends of curl. When hair is completely pin curled allow hair to set for 15 mins. Remove pins and using a bristle brush, brush entire head out into a wave pattern. You can also use your fingers to create two big finger waves in front using hair spray for hold, body and bounce.

Ladies, shame the fool that says that your lovely Indique tresses don’t look like it’s growing from your scalp!

Maintenance is essential! Shampoo & deep condition your hair every 2-3 weeks. Ms. BoomKack deep conditions with an intensive conditioning treatment for 20 minutes with a plastic cap, followed by rinse and paddle brush dry. Take sections of dry hair and flatiron using a comb placed in front of the flatiron plates for a smooth and sleek look.

Before curling and in between BoomKack styles, I always blow dry the hair with a paddle brush for beautiful bouncy hair with lots of movement.

For tonight’s look using a 1 1/2 curling iron, starting from the bottom working my way up to the top. Curl the hair away from the face and pin each curl to set. Once entire hair is curled, pinned and complete remove pins and finger comb hair upside down flip over lightly mist hair with holding spray and go!

Born to Dance Style Tip #2

Style Tip #2

For the BoomKack braid apply styling cream throughout the hair and using a paddle brush gather all the hair to one side. Starting at the base of the neck begin braiding loosely with the braid of your choice, either the fishtail, standard braid or a twist. Braid all the way down leaving out the ends, secure with an elastic band. Now once you’re done, you can loosen sections of the braid to provide texture and create a messy look. Take a few sections of hair around the face and wrap the hair around a barrel curling iron. Smooth curled hair into braid for the finished look!

Indique Style: The Grammy's + The Middle Part

Was it just us or did you notice the great deal of middle parts at this year’s Grammy’s? Celebs such as Jennifer Hudson, Kim K. and Jada Pinkett Smith all rocked the middle part. Besides the Grammy’s isn’t as formal as the Oscars and all of the updos that come along with it. The celebs let their hair down letting their easy breezy hair compliment all the glitz and glam.

On one of those nights when you’re looking super glamorous try to counter your outfit with a simple sleek middle part. Instead of the focus being on particular parts of your look it’ll be all on you!

Beauty Moment: Airy Lightness Matte Texture

Spun cotton candy and airy clouds? Who would’ve thought those words would be describing hair? As seen on Calvin Klein’s and Karen Walkers spring/summer 2011 collection runways matte texture is in! There was a time where intentionally dulling down your gloss was unthinkable but now it’s the new hair craze. Doesn’t hurt to give the sexy matte look a try.

Apply Davine’s N* 13 Mat Forming Ground to dry strands for a textured look with a sexy matte finish!

Indique Style: The Hair Hump Makes a Come-Back

The Hump took a bit of a break but now it’s back and even more glamorous. Stars like Eva Mendes, and Emma Stone are adding lift to their locks for fab events and you can get the look too!

Want to achieve this stunning style? Follow these quick steps:

  •  Spritz volumizer all over your damp hair.
  • Give your hair extra body by drying it upside down.
  • Make a part at the center of your head from ear to ear.
  • Tease the part line and crown and set with hairspray.

Need a little extra hair to tease? Try Indique’s STUDIO Collection Fishnet!

Beauty Moment: Bye Bye Flyaways

Hair mascara? Well not quite. It’s a quick and easy way to stop the flyaways and split ends especially in this harsh winter weather. John Frieda’s Full Repair Flyaway Tamer wand does magic but only temporarily. It’s always important to treat your hair with or without hair extensions. This little tube contains crystal- clear shine boosting hair serum. The application is simple. Glide the wand on any frizz or flyaways and “Voila!”

Indique Style: Dramatic Two Tone

Celebs such as Ciara and Rihanna rocked the dramatic two toned trend. Sample the drama without the commitment. Keep your luxurious dark shade and add some peek-a-boo highlights using removable hair extensions. Simply snap open the clip, position it at the roots and then snap it closed. Make sure you place each clip under a layer of hair to conceal it.

Want to achieve this look? Try the STUDIO Collection’s Fishnet Colored Straight to add the drama to your look in a snap!

Beauty Moment: DIY Shine

Every stylist has their own secret weapon to keeping their clients hair fresh and glossy. DIY glosses in clear forms can instantly refresh your look in the comfort of your home. With clear glosses there are no “oopsies” and your strands stay gleaming from root to tip!

Try a dose of Clariol Shine Happy

Add luster to your hair to amp up any style.

Beauty Moment: Got Static?

Is your staticky hair driving you crazy? Your hair is screaming “I need moisture!” Instead of constantly using hairspray which contains alcohol that will dry out your hair try rubbing a few drops of hair serum through your strands to lock in the moisture.  Try ghd’s Polishing Serum. Once you make that switch you’ll have silky strands minus the flyaways.
